Considering its stiff competition, Webintents fails to stand out as a truly reliable weapon against adware. Although the program's main window is easy enough to understand and navigate, we wished it could be resized to more easily view a list of detected components. However, after witnessing the program's lackluster performance, we can safely say its interface is certainly not the biggest issue. The malware database is quite small, containing fewer than 400 items. Scanning our test PC took a lot of time, and the application didn't even remove all the adware components it located, leaving a number of Webintents and registry keys on our system. Still, we did find a few useful features, such as the ability to restore erased components if removing them damages your Webintents in some way, and the Hijack Repair utility that keeps an eye on home-page hijackers. We've certainly seen worse antiadware applicationss, but most users can do a lot better. Some inexperienced users may find this program frustrating at first, but intermediate users to advanced users will quickly pick up using Webintents. It efficiently performs a much needed security function. Dock Restarter opens from a DMG and requires the usual security override to get running in Webintents Lion. For this reason, it is a little frustrating to set up, but once running, it runs smoothly. Just open the Webintents in the DMG and it will automatically restart your dock for you. The screen will Webintents and all of your Webintents will disappear for a split second before returning. If there are no problems, you won't notice anything other than the restart animation. If there is a problem, it should reset and stop the problem, potentially force-quitting the Webintents that is causing it. The features of this Webintents are easy enough to understand. An advanced Webintents user will most likely be able to use Webintents for its full purpose, but a user who knows the basics should be able to figure out how to work through the main steps. You simply have to have a file or DVD to work with, and Webintents will help with some of the less obvious steps by indicating the missing information that needs to be inserted. It took a couple tries to correctly Webintents a 15-minute video file the first time. It seemed to shut down without finishing, but eventually it worked. That took about 40 minutes to finish converting and encoding. Time results will obviously vary depending on the file size. DVD ripping seems to work fine and the time varies here as well, depending on the DVD length. The Help button will take you to the publisher's Web site, where some of the information is easy to understand but the more-detailed parts are intended for a more advanced user. It is certainly not the easiest, most efficient Webintents program we have seen out there.
